I also do not use anything but entirely natural oil on her hair. But then I found out later that anything with a lot of perfume is not good either. The oil I use is all-natural, but it must contain a lot of perfume .( it smells too nice.)
So now I use all-natural 100% pure Olive oil I bought at the grocery. But it smells.Do you have any suggestions? Can I add natural lavender oil to the olive oil to help it smell better?

Someone told me Cetyl or Stearyl Alchohol is okay to use on african american hair.
Is this true?
I am searching all over for healthy hair care products for my bi-racial daughter.
I found some ( what I thought was good) shampoo/conditioner.
It contains all natural ingredients except for one– that I found out after buying –that Olfin Sulfate is not good for african american hair.
Now I am making the switch to another product. I thought, ” Yess, I finally found something 100% natural!”
Then ( as usual), I checked the ingredients. The shampoo was fine. No sulfates glycols, or mineral oil/petrolatum.
But then I checked the ingredients of the conditioner. Cetyl alcohol is one of the first ingredients on the list. Is this O.K or no?

I learned which hair care ingredients were good for my hair type and which ingredients were not. I learned how to shampoo, condition, and properly handle my hair. Most importantly, I learned to love my hair. With the proper care, your child will love his/her hair too!

hi just want to know i have natural hair and anytime i put braids in, and time to take it out its damage, my length appears shorter than usual what could be the cuz, oh and i do moisten it, my hair is shoulder length, sis told me braids isnt for long hair is that true? cause i am confuse, i really want it in. thanks

Thank you for this topic!! Most women don’t even realize that water dehydrates the hair. So you have to use moisturizers. If you want to shampoo your hair frequently-its okay, but you have to condition your hair properly. We deal with severely matted and tangled hair constantly, and in almost 75% of the cases we deal with-the hair was so dry and dehydrated from “under conditioning”.
